Year 9

Term 1 - Hardware and Software

Students learn about the various parts that make up a computer and how they work. Learn how to assemble and repair a PC by taking one apart and putting it back together, installing the operating system and getting it running again. By the end of this topic you will be able to design, build and fix your own computer as well as understand the roles and specifications of different components.

Term 2 - Graphics

Students learn about photo enhancement, 2D graphics manipulation, design and illustration using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. By the end of this topic you will be able to adjust images in a variety of ways to improve your photography, manipulate graphics with many layers / effects and draw using illustration tools (such as shapes, bezier curves) to create your own digital art.

Term 3 - Video Editing and Effects

Students learn about video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and Special Effects using Adobe After Effects. By the end of this topic you will be able to edit your own videos together as well as enhance them with basic special/visual effects.

Term 4 - The Internet and Website Development

Students learn about how the Internet works and learn how to build websites using both manual HTML/CSS and easier WYSIWYG methods.

Year 10

Term 1 - 3D Graphics

Students learn about 3D graphics and modelling using Blender.

Term 2 - Game Development

Students learn about 2D game development using Construct and 3D game development using Unity.

Term 3 - Individual Project

Students are able to self-direct their learning in an area of their own interest.

Term 4 - Software Development

Students learn about software development which further builds on knowledge from game development and also prepares students looking to study Software Development in Year 11 and 12.
